Takeover MGMT ( original spelling TAKEOVER ) is a German music company from Mettmann, which was founded in 2013 by Robert Ivankovic. The company works primarily as an artist management and marketer. Since 2014 it has also appeared as a label under the name Takeover Music . In the function of the label, the company has the artists Kayef , T-Zon and Liont under contract. It is also responsible for the management of Joel Brandenstein , Jona Selle and Seko. In the past, the producer Topic was also bound by contract.
Career
Robert Ivankovic initially founded Takeover MGMT under the name Takeover Entertainment at the end of 2013. At that time, he was still working as product manager for the Düsseldorf hip-hop label Selfmade Records . Based on this, he also coordinated the brand management of the fashion brands Pusher Apparel and Stacxs Clothing . In July 2014 Ivankovic ended the collaboration with Selfmade Records to concentrate on his own company. Originally founded as an artist management company, Ivankovic expanded the company's range of activities to include label work. This made it possible to publish their own albums and singles. This area operates under the name Takeover Music . Takeover MGMT describes it as the company's " core task " to create its own " content [...] in an original way ". Marketing takes place via social media, through which the artists present themselves musically and privately. Takeover MGMT conceptualises advertising cooperations for the respective YouTube appearances. In addition, Ivankovic has specialized in “embedding supposedly purely digital topics in the analog music world. “For example, he relies on premium boxes for the label's publications.
Kayef was the first artist to be signed. The rapper and Youtuber Liont followed later. On November 14, 2014, Kayef's album Relicts was released last night . With this the label rose to number 17 in the German, number 28 in the Austrian and number 86 in the Swiss charts. In the course of the marketing phase, three songs from the album were able to position themselves in the single charts. Löwenkind , Liont's first solo album, followed in April 2015 . With rank 2, it reached the highest chart position in the German charts to date. In July 2015 T-Zon received an artist contract with Takeover Music . The producer Topic, who was involved in the production of both albums, released the album Miles in the summer of 2015 . Takeover Music celebrated successes in 2016 with Topics Single Home . This was awarded a gold record in Germany and a platinum record in Australia. In mid-2016, Topic Takeover left MGMT after a year of collaboration. Shortly afterwards the company took over the management of the artists Seko and Joel Brandenstein. Furthermore, the albums Alles auf Anfang by T-Zon and Chaos by Kayef were released in 2016 . Both albums are distributed by Groove Attack .
At the end of 2016, Takeover MGMT entered into a cooperation with Starwatch Entertainment for the artist Kayef. The collaboration with the subsidiary of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE was intensified in spring 2017 by establishing a long-term partnership. Thus Takeover MGMT take over management and marketing tasks, whereas Star Watch Entertainment is responsible for the label work. The ProSiebenSat.1 subsidiary also arranges the artists' television appearances. Markus Hartmann, COO & Director Music Starwatch, praised Takeover's networking and competence . In the course of the company's expansion, he sees Takeover “ as an advisor, scout and network in A&R and marketing. “On March 31st, Emotionen , the debut album of the singer Joel Brandenstein, was the first release of this collaboration. Starwatch Entertainment signed Brandenstein in November 2016.
