Burang County ( Tibetan སྤུ་ ཧྲེང་ རྫོང , transcription from Wylie : spu hreng rdzong , also Purang Dzong ) has an area of ​​13,179 km² and is located in the administrative district of Ngari , in the southwest of the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . Burang is also the name of the seat of the county government, the greater community Burang. The old trading post Burang is also known by the Indians and Nepalese as Taklakot .

Administrative division and population

Burang County, founded in 1960, is made up of a large parish and two parishes . These are:

  • Greater community Burang (普兰镇), 5,026 inhabitants (2000 census);
  • Baga municipality (巴嘎 乡), population 1,208 (2000 census);
  • Hor (霍尔 乡) parish , population 1,685 (2000 census).

For the whole district, the census in 2000 counted 7,919 inhabitants (2003 estimate: 10,000), while for 1999 it was still 7,653.

Attractions
