Tal Hamis or Tell Hamis ( Arabic تل حميس, DMG Tall Ḥamīs ) is a village and sub- district of the same name ( Nahiya ) of the Qamishli district in the al-Hasakah governorate in northeast Syria . The place is northeast of al-Hasakah and west of the city of Til Košir on the border with Iraq . The Wadi Jarrah flows through the place, a tributary of the Chabur . The subdistrict had 71,699 inhabitants in the 2004 census.
history
The place was on 27 February 2015 fighters of the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) and fighters of the Assyrian-Aramaic Military Council (MFS) from IS recaptured. The recapture was considered the most important Kurdish success since the recapture of Kobanê . At the same time, according to Kurdish information, 94 surrounding villages were liberated.
