Talmberger Codex
The Talmberger Codex is a legal transcript in the Czech Museum . Originally the code was owned by the Talmbergers .
The inscriptions on the panels show that Johann Max Freiherr von Talmberg gave the document to his uncle, the Bishop of Königgrätz Johann Franz Christoph von Talmberg , who asked him to keep this code of the family. After the family died out, the manuscript was transferred to the archbishop's library and from there to the Czech Museum.
In terms of content, the code for the highest burgrave of Prague, Henry IV von Neuhaus, was drawn up between 1503 and 1506. It gathers the most important national laws such as the Bohemian law book of the 14th century, a summary of the contracts concluded on Karlstein , the coronation order of the Bohemian king and judgments of the regional court as well as other copies of the country table , arranged according to Bohemian kings and according to regional assemblies up to 1506.
Palacký published excerpts from this code in the archive český (Bohemian archive), and Emler in O zbytcích desk zemských v r. 1541 pohořelých (German about the remains of the land tablets burned in 1541) and Jireček in Codex iuris Bohemici . The royal land table itself had been destroyed in a fire in the archive.
