The Komotau dam (Kamenička dam, přehrada Kamenička ) is located in the Bohemian Ore Mountains one kilometer northwest of Bečov in the municipality of Blatno , Czech Republic .

history

The mayor of Komotau , Anton Schiefer, had the dam built in 1899 for the purpose of supplying his city with drinking water. The Kamenička ("Neuhauser Flößbach"), a left tributary of the Chomutovka, is dammed .

The designer was the Stuttgart professor Otto Lueger , the construction company was GAWayss & Cie from Vienna.

The dam is a curved gravity dam made of rubble masonry based on the Intze principle . It was declared a technical national monument.

The Křimov dam lies two kilometers to the southwest .
