Tambet Pikkor (born April 17, 1980 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Estonian Nordic combined athlete and today's ski jumping coach. During his active career he often competed as a special jumper.
Career
Pikkor began his career at the national level. He won silver in the individual at the Estonian Ski Jumping Championships in 1997. Then he got a starting place at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano at the age of only 17 . However, there he competed in his actual discipline, the Nordic combined. In the individual, he landed in 44th place, before he landed with the team in the team competition in 11th place.
In the summer of 2000 Pikkor started in Germany for the first time as part of the Nordic Combined Grand Prix, but remained without any points. From January 2001 he started in the B-World Cup of Nordic Combined . Already at his first competition in Klingenthal he achieved a very good result with fifth place. With this he traveled as a participant to the Nordic World Ski Championships 2001 in Lahti . In the individual, he achieved 47th place there before showing a better performance in the sprint with 19th place. In the months after the World Cup, he was unable to consistently prevail in the B World Cup. Occasionally, however, he achieved good to very good top 20 placements.
At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , he also started as a special jumper for the first time. However, he already failed in the qualification. In the combination he finished 40th in the sprint. In the individual competition he was eliminated.
After he continued to start in the B World Cup, Pikkor came to the 2003 Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme after good results . There he reached rank 30 in the sprint. For the 2003/04 season Pikkor moved to the A-team and made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup on November 29, 2003 in Kuusamo . After scoring his first World Cup points in the first season, he finished the season in 57th place overall. At the end of the season he was part of the Ski Jumping World Cup in Lahti for the first time for ski jumpers team in Lahti, reaching the World Cup team finished ninth.
At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf , he started in the sprint and reached 40th place. At the age of 25, he took part in his last Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006 . After 33rd place in the individual, he finished 32nd in the sprint.
Pikkor won a total of three national championship titles during his career, one of them in the singles 2000 in Otepää .
After the end of his active career he worked as a trainer and took over the head coach of the Estonian national ski jumping team.
