history
The Tampa Bay Rowdies emerged in 1975 when the NASL expanded to 20 teams. Already in their first season the team dominated their conference and reached the final after successes over Toronto Metros-Croatia and Miami Toros . There she defeated the Portland Timbers 2-0 and took the title. 1978 and 1979 succeeded again in each of the finals, but New York Cosmos and the Vancouver Whitecaps prevailed there. Parallel to the regular NASL seasons, the team also took part in the league's indoor championship from 1979, where they won the tournament again straight away. In 1982 she also lost the final there. With the beginning of the 1980s, the team left the success and they could not qualify for the championship finals of the NASL several times.
After the league was dissolved in 1985, the Tampa Bay Rowdies began playing in the National Professional Soccer League in 1986 , before taking part in the American Soccer League championship from 1988 . In 1992 the team reached the final of the championship, but had to admit defeat to the Colorado Foxes . In the following season, the teams met in the semi-finals, the 0-1 defeat was the last competitive game of the Tampa Bay Rowdies, which then disbanded.
