The Vancouver Whitecaps were a Canadian football club based in Vancouver .

history

The Whitecaps were founded on December 11, 1973 and played in the North American Soccer League from 1974 .

In 1979 they won the NASL Soccer Bowl. In the final, the Tampa Bay Rowdies were defeated 2-1. Overall, they were able to win their respective conference or division five times.

When the NASL was dissolved in 1984, the Whitecaps also stopped their gaming operations.

A team called Vancouver Whitecaps has been active in Major League Soccer since 2011, aiming to continue the tradition of the Whitecaps.

Stadion

From 1974 to 1983 the team played at Empire Stadium. In 1983 the Whitecaps moved to the newly formed BC Place Stadium .
