David Harvey (born February 7, 1948 in Leeds , England ) is a retired Scottish football player .

The football goalkeeper Harvey grew up in Leeds as the son of Scottish parents and began his football career in the youth teams of Leeds United . In 1965 he received his first professional contract with Leeds, but was only a substitute goalkeeper until 1972. With the regular place he received at Leeds United in 1972/1973, he was also a Scottish national football player . With Scotland he qualified for the 1974 World Cup in Germany , where he did not lose a game, but was eliminated in the preliminary round due to the goal difference against Brazil by one goal . At club level, he was English champion with Leeds in the same season and reached the final of the European Cup against Bayern Munich in 1975 . The final lost his team with 0-2. However, he could not take part in the final because he was injured in a car accident. In 1980 he moved to the Vancouver Whitecaps in the NASL . There he stayed until 1982. In total, he came to 19 games in Canada.

He ended his professional career at Leeds in 1985, but then played briefly at Bradford City and Partick Thistle before finally ending his career at the end of the 1985/1986 season.
