In October 2009, Cisco Systems announced that it would take over Tandberg as the Telepresence Technology Group for around 3 billion US dollars. After the acquisition was completed, Tandberg has been part of Cisco Systems since April 19, 2010.

Patent controversy

In November 2010, Jason Garret-Glaser, an x264 developer, published the allegation that Tandberg Telecom had described step-by-step in a patent application from December 2008 an algorithm that he had developed for x264 in October 2008.
