Tanghetto

Tanghetto is an Argentine music group of Neotango, or what they call Electrotango . Their music is a fusion of the new tango from Buenos Aires, as brought about by Astor Piazzolla , with electronic music.

The group was founded in 2001 by the composer and producer Max Masri and the composer and instrumentalist Diego S. Velázquez. Her debut album Emigrante (electrotango) , which came out at the end of 2003, was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2004 and won a gold record in 2005 and a platinum record in 2007.

In 2004 the musicians of Tanghetto started a parallel project called Hybrid Tango (also nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2005), which they defined as "cosmopolitan tango". To the fusion of electro and music from Buenos Aires they added jazz , flamenco , candombe and other styles of the world music trend .

In February 2005, the independent music label CONSTITUTION MUSIC released a compilation Tangophopia Vol. 1: Contemporary Sounds of Buenos Aires , including five previously unreleased pieces by Tanghetto. In October 2005 Tanghetto released the album Buenos Aires Remixed , which includes cover versions of the tracks Enjoy the Silence and Blue Monday .

After touring in Europe and South America, the group released the album El miedo a la Libertad in March 2008 , the title of which refers to Erich Fromm's Escape from Freedom (German: The fear of freedom ) from 1941. The album contains adaptations of the tracks Sweet Dreams (are made of this) by Eurythmics , Englishman in New York by Sting and the jazz classic Cantaloupe Island by Herbie Hancock .
