The Tanimbarschnäpper ( Microeca hemixantha ) is a songbird from the family of the catch . It is endemic to the Indonesian Tanimbar Islands ( Larat , Loetoe and Yamdena ) between New Guinea and Timor .
description
The Tanimbarcatcher reaches a length of 12 centimeters. An indistinct eye streak extends from the base of the beak to behind the eyes. The skull, top and tail are dark olive. The underside is light yellow with the throat being a little lighter in color. The iris is dark brown. The upper bill is black, the lower bill light pink-orange. The legs are black. The sexes look the same. The youth plumage is so far undescribed. His chirping singing consists of a series of 12 to 14 harmonic and occasionally shrill tones.
Habitat and food
The Tanimbarcatcher inhabits mangroves, forests, forest edges and open woodland in the lowlands. It feeds on insects, which it spies from a seat guard and preyed on in short flights.
