Tanja Fajon (born May 9, 1971 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian politician ( Socialni democi ).

Fajon holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing in Non-Profit Organizations and Journalism from the University of Ljubljana . She then received a Masters in International Politics from the College for Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Paris-South and the CERIS in Brussels . She initially worked as a journalist and editorial assistant at Radio Glas Ljubljane and as a journalist and reporter for the daily newspaper Republika . In 1995 she moved to RTV Slovenija , where she was the EU correspondent in Brussels from 2001 to 2009. She has been a member of the European Parliament since 2009 .

After the resignation of the previous party chairman Dejan Židan , Tanja Fajon has been chairwoman of the Socialni Demokratie since May 2020, initially on a provisional basis until the party conference planned for autumn 2020.

Activities as MEPs

Fajon is in the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists & Democrats in the European Parliament and is a member of the following committees: Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and the Special Committee against Organized Crime, Corruption and Money Laundering . Fajon is a deputy in the Committee on Foreign Affairs and in the delegation for relations with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo .
