Tanja Gonggrijp

Tannetje Jakoline "Tanja" Gonggrijp (born February 4, 1976 in Amersfoort ) is a Dutch diplomat . She has been the Dutch ambassador to Sri Lanka since 2019 .

Life

Tanja Gonggrijp attended the Johan van Oldenbarnevelt Stedelijk Gymnasium in Amersfoort. She then studied European public administration with a focus on international relations at the University of Twente from 1995 to 2000 . There she also did her doctorate . After graduation, she worked in teaching and research for the Clingersael Institute , a Dutch institute for international relations with an affiliated diplomatic academy.

Diplomatic career

Tanja Gonggrijp has been working for the Dutch Foreign Ministry since 2014 , first in the Directorate General for Western and Central Europe, then from 2007 to 2010 as Second Secretary at the Dutch Embassy in Dakar , Senegal . From 2010 to 2014 she was a Senior Adviser in the Directorate General for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2014 to 2015 she was the program coordinator for the renewal of the personnel policy in the department for personnel and organization. From 2015 to July 2019 she was head of department for sustainable production and trade in the department for sustainable economic development.

In 2019 Tanja Gonggrijp succeeded Joanne Doornewaard , who became ambassador to South Korea , the new Dutch ambassador in Colombo . The accreditation with Maithripala Sirisena , the President of Sri Lanka, took place on August 19, 2019. In his welcoming speech, President Sirisesa paid tribute to the long-standing friendship between the two countries.
