Fire truck (Czech Republic)
A tank fire engine (German for short: TLF ) is the name for a type of fire engine . The Czech abbreviation for a tank pumper is CAS ( Cisternová automobilová stříkačka ), the same as for the emergency tank pumper and the large tank pumper .
An essential feature of this type of vehicle is that it is equipped with a usually permanently installed fire extinguishing pump and a large extinguishing water tank, which allows initial fire fighting without an external water supply. Accordingly, these vehicles are primarily designed and equipped for fire fighting . There are different sizes of this type of vehicle, which differ in terms of their crew, their load, their tank size and their pumping capacity.
Areas of responsibility
With their large water tank and their permanently installed pump connected to the tank, tank fire-fighting vehicles enable a quick initial fire-fighting attack until the fire water supply is ensured via the public hydrant network or other extinguishing water extraction points. As soon as this is done, they can - like other fire engines - be used to pump extinguishing water. If there is no extinguishing water extraction point at a deployment site, which occurs for example in the case of forest fires or on the motorway, tank fire engines can be used in shuttle traffic to bring extinguishing water to the deployment site. You can then either use the water with your own pump for fire fighting or supply a fire fighting vehicle with fire water. Furthermore, fire trucks can also be used to transport drinking water. This makes them particularly interesting for civil protection .

200 vehicles were procured from CAS 15 as part of a large-scale procurement program. The chassis for the CAS 15 came from MAN , Mercedes-Benz Atego and Renault Midlum . The pump output is 1,500 l / min and the vehicle is equipped with a relay cabin. The term M2Z stands for vehicles between 7,500 kg and 14,000 kg. “M” is a universal road chassis, “2” refers to all-wheel drive and “Z” is a vehicle with basic equipment.

The CAS 16 is based on the further development of the CAS 16 (W). In contrast to its predecessor, this vehicle was designed as a fire engine. With its 3,500 liters of extinguishing water, it is one of the medium-sized fire trucks. The equipment compared to its predecessor includes a hydraulic rescue device , a power generator , breathing apparatus and a light pole .

As with many vehicles of the voluntary fire brigades in the Czech Republic, the CAS 16 (W) is a Praga V3S that has been retired from the army . Due to its good off-road mobility, the vehicle was used to fight forest fires, especially in rural areas. One of the special features of the vehicle is the crew cabin located at the rear. Even today, vehicles of this type are still in regular service at the volunteer fire brigades.

The CAS 25 tank tender was built on the chassis of the LIAZ 706 from the vehicle manufacturer LIAZ . The vehicle type designation LIAZ was only used from 1974. One of the special features of the CAS 25 is a roof turret for direct fire fighting from the vehicle roof . Only one relay crew was required to operate the vehicle.
A custom-made product for use in forest fires was also developed. In order to achieve high maneuverability on unpaved terrain, the decision was made to use the two-axle chassis of the Tatra 815 with a short wheelbase. The pump output is 2,400 l / min. The crew cabin offers space for the machinist and a team. The vehicle had a 4,000 liter extinguishing water tank.

One of the distinguishing features of the CAS K 25 tank tender is that it has 3 equipment compartments on the side and a rear equipment compartment. The pump control system is housed in the rear equipment compartment. The pump output is up to 2,500 l / min. It is atypical for a fire truck to be manned by a group (fire brigade) instead of a squadron. A CAS K 25 was used by a Siemens plant fire department, among others .

The CAS K 27 tank tender is one of the more modern developments in emergency vehicles. It was procured by the professional fire departments in Ostrava and Prague . It is built on the chassis of the Dennis Saber from the British manufacturer Dennis Specialist Vehicles from Guildford . The development of the vehicle began in the middle of 1990. It was built in three different size versions, the versions "Saber", "Saber ML", "Saber XL". The equipment of the vehicle includes a 3-part extension ladder or a 3-part extension ladder and a light mast . The pump output was 2,700 l / min. The vehicle was equipped with a relay cabin.

With the tank fire engine CAS 32 , a fire engine with a large water tank was developed due to the high carrying capacity of the Tatra 148 from the Czech vehicle manufacturer Tatra as . The pump output of the built-in rear pump was up to 3,200 l / min. In addition to a hydraulic rescue device and ladder parts , the equipment also included a roof turret with an output of 400 l / min for direct fire fighting from the vehicle roof . The crew cabin provided space for the machinist and a squad.
But CAS 32 was also built on the Tatra 815 with 3 axes. Instead of a 6,600 liter extinguishing water tank, an 8,200 liter extinguishing water tank was installed. There was also more space for foam concentrate.
