The national soccer team of the mainland of the East African state Tanzania is the selection of the Tanzania Football Federation . Only players from the mainland and not from the autonomous state of Zanzibar are eligible to play . The joint national team that also competes in FIFA and CAF competitions is the Tanzanian national soccer team .
The team "Kilimanjaro Stars" is named after the highest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro .

The mainland national team competes in the Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) and won the CECAFA Cup in 1974 , 1994 and 2010, finishing second in 1973 , 1980 , 1981 , 1992 , 2002 and third in 2008 .
