The Tapatu Stream is a creek east of East Cape and northeast of Gisborne on New Zealand's North Island. It rises on the eastern flank of the 762 meter high Kokomuka Mountain in the Raukumara Range , flows in an easterly direction and, after taking in numerous tributaries, flows after about 4.5 kilometers into the Onematariki Stream , which in turn merges into the Karakatuwhero River .
