Boehmes gecko ( Tarentola boehmei ) is a lizard belonging to the suborder gecko-like .

features

The males reach a head-trunk length of 81.5 mm, the females of 73 mm. Compared to Tarentola deserti , the species is smaller, has much less pronounced tubercles on the back and the nostril and rostral touch. Tarentola boehmei has higher scale values than Tarentola mauritanica . There are 133 to 177 scales around the middle of the body . Under the first toe there are 13 to 15, under the fourth 16 to 18 and under the fifth 21 to 23 scales and lamellae. The skin appears translucent pink or yellowish. The regenerated tail is pink and has a tendril-shaped marbling.

distribution and habitat

The species occurs in southwest Morocco , in the far north of the Western Sahara and possibly in Algeria . Their habitat is rocky terrain, but Böhmes Gecko also inhabits built-up areas. She lives in rocks and low walls, ruins, villages and cities.

Systematics

Tarentola boehmei was first described by Joger in 1984 . The species is named after the German herpetologist Wolfgang Böhme , who was the first to recognize its independence. Within the genus Tarentola it is placed in the subgenus Tarentola .
