TASSO

TASSO , bourgeois Jens Müller (born July 23, 1966 in Meerane ) is a German graffiti artist.

Life

He received his general education from 1973 to 1983. The film Wild Style sparked my first fascination with graffiti in the mid-1980s. In 1991 he created his first illegal graffiti picture under the pseudonym "GESHWAY". 1991–1999 he had various jobs, including a. as order picker and in construction. In 1994 he stepped into legality and received his first orders as an artist. In 1996 he got in touch with other sprayers and got involved in the scene. This was followed by an expansion of the techniques with can, oil, airbrush on various surfaces and publication of some works in the books of the Graffiti Art series at Schwarzkopf & Schwarzkopf Verlag , volumes 8, 9, 11 as well as an entry in the Large Graffiti Lexicon .

From 2000 he started his own business as a freelance artist with commissioned work on canvas and house facade. In 2001 the artist group "Ma 'Claim" was founded. In 2002 he had a main graffiti act at the “Splash Meeting of Styles” in Copenhagen and Malmö , and in the design of the stage background at “Planet Rock” in the Netherlands. From 2003 to 2005 he was a member of the jury at the World Graffiti Championship Write4Gold , which took place in Moscow, Athens and Warsaw. In 2006 the book Ma'Claim - Finest Photorealistic Graffiti was published . In 2007, former interns merged under the name "TASSO & GO ...!" In order to jointly design larger facades.

TASSO has left its artistic mark in a total of 30 countries. He has shown exhibitions in art halls around the world, including in Spain, Italy, England, India and South Africa. TASSO developed the idea for the IBUg (industrial fallow redesign ) project in Meerane and is considered the founder of the now internationally known art festival, which has been taking place annually since 2006. TASSO was not only immortalized on canvases, but typically also on the walls and house facades of his hometown Meerane and the surrounding area due to its homeland. Examples are at Hohenstein-Ernstthal train station and the new Meerane train station .

Style & technology

TASSO began its graffiti technique with typical lettering ( style writing ) and figures ( characters ). Over the years, he developed and perfected the so-called graffoto, photo-realistic work with the spray can , both on external facades and increasingly on canvases, very quickly .

From around 2011 TASSO has been dealing with the fine arts apart from street art and has developed its own contemporary position in which the spray can and the associated artistic self-image play a rather subordinate role. Using techniques such as drippings (similar to Jackson Pollock's drip technique ), the artist undermines the immediacy of the tried and tested photorealism. In addition to landscapes, there are narrative images, as well as pop art and surreal poetry. Objective motifs dissolve in abstraction and the influence of street art is always noticeable.
