The pigeon tower (French colombier or pigeonnier ) in Dampierre , a French commune in the Calvados department in the Normandy region , was built at the beginning of the 17th century. The pigeon tower stands as part of the castle since 1928 as a monument historique on the list of monuments in France.

description

The round tower was built from quarry stone masonry . The slate roof is crowned by a lantern . The pigeon tower and gatehouse were believed to have been built by the architect François Gabriel, who was a royal builder .

Inside the pigeon tower there are still the brick and sandstone pigeon nests .
