Baptismal font in Solesmes

The baptismal font in the church of St-Martin von Solesmes , a French commune in the Nord department in the Hauts-de-France region , was created in 1587. The baptismal font of sandstone was established in 1973 as a monument historique in the list of the listed objects ( Base Palissy ) incorporated in France.

The 1.10 meter high baptismal font comes from the previous building of today's church. After it had been in a public park for a long time, it was restored and is now used as a holy water font, since a new baptismal font was purchased in the middle of the 19th century.

The year 1587 and the initials INRI are carved on the edge of the pool .
