Baptismal font in Hautmont

The baptismal font in the Notre-Dame de l'Assomption Catholic Church in Hautmont , a French commune in the Nord department in the Hauts-de-France region , was created in the 12th century. In 1922, the Romanesque- style baptismal font was added to the list of listed buildings ( Base Palissy ) in France as Monument historique .

The bluestone baptismal font , which was formerly in the church of St-Marcel, stands on a broad column with a rectangular base and four corner leaves. The round basin is worked into a square stone block, which is decorated with reliefs on all four sides. A horse and a tiger face each other on one side and two dragons on the other. The other two sides are decorated with lilies and acanthus leaves.

The gadronized cover is from a later time.
