Teboho Edkins

Teboho Edkins (born September 19, 1980 in the state of Tennessee , USA ) is an American film director .

Life

Edkins, whose mother is German and whose father is South African , grew up in Lesotho and South Africa. He studied art at the University of Cape Town , then was able to work for two years as an artist in residence at Le Fresnoy , the Studio National des Arts Contemporains , in Tourcoing in northern France, thanks to a scholarship . This scholarship was followed by postgraduate studies at the dffb German Film and Television Academy Berlin in Berlin .

Edkins has been known since 2004 for his short films and documentaries about life in South Africa after the end of apartheid .
