The Techelsberger Kleinsee is a pond in the center of the same nature sanctuary and is located in the Carinthian municipality of Techelsberg am Wörthersee . It is also called Kleiner See or Kleiner Forstsee .
location
The lake is located on the ridge north of the Wörthersee in a glacial hollow at 607 m above sea level. It lies between Forstsee and Jeserzer See . The ridge consists of old crystalline slates.
lake
The lake has an area of 1.4 hectares and is heavily silted up. It is fed by a few small spring streams with little water flow. The drainage takes place via a small drain towards the forest lake in the southeast. The whole area is covered with underwater plants. The water itself is slightly brown in color, which is due to the entry of humus from the surrounding moor areas. The water is poor in lime.
The whole edge of the river is natural. For the most part, it is taken by a cutting reed, there are also pond rush , hedgehog cob , swamp fern and swamp hairline . In addition to pondweed and water lily, the rarer pond rose also occurs in aquatic plants . The hinterland around the lake is formed by shallow bog-like stands of Carex davalliana , rust-red rush ( Schoenus ferrugineus ) and quaking grass . All three native species of sundew are quite common here ( Drosera anglica , Drosera rotundifolia , Drosera intermedia ).
In summer, the lake warms up considerably because it is located in a sheltered trough. Due to the heavy vegetation, it is not very suitable for bathing.
Landscape protection area
The Techelsberger Kleinsee was declared a landscape protection area Techelsberger Kleinsee in 1970 with the surrounding areas (LGBl. No. 34/1970), the whole area covers 192 hectares. The landscape protection area is located in the two communities of Velden am Wörthersee and Techelsberg am Wörthersee.
