The Technical Academy of the City of Braunschweig is a state technical college in Braunschweig . It awards the state-certified technician for four different technical subjects as the highest degree . The qualification is classified at level 6 in the European Qualifications Framework . The technical academy maintains numerous collaborations with other educational institutions. This cooperation enables additional or advanced qualifications for the students. A cooperation with Glyndŵr University enables faster achievement of a Bachelor of Engineering degree .

Educational offer

Subjects

There are currently four subject areas at the academy that can be completed with the degree of state-certified technician . The field of machine technology offers two main focuses: general machine technology and construction technology. The field of electrical engineering offers three main areas: general electrical engineering, data processing and communication technology as well as energy technology and process automation. In the part-time form, the focus on Industry 4.0 is offered across disciplines. The regular full-time study duration is two years; the part-time study takes four years.

  • Cross-professional learning area (mathematics, German, English, business administration, leadership )
  • Electrical engineering (general electrical engineering, data processing technology, communication technology, energy technology, process automation)
  • Machine technology (technical mechanics, production management, manufacturing technology, CAD and construction technology, control technology, regulation technology)
  • Mechatronics (robotics, electrical drive technology and sensor technology, electronics, CAD and construction technology, control technology, automation technology)
  • Computer science (software development and software engineering, embedded systems, programming, web design)

Additional qualifications

The technical academy organizes preparatory courses for technician training or for a bachelor's degree. Courses are also offered to complement regular training. For some courses, part-time students have the opportunity to apply for educational leave from their employer.

Bachelor degree

Depending on the subject, the technician course contains numerous modules that can be credited towards a bachelor’s degree at a university. The duration of study at a technical college or university can be shortened by crediting individual modules from the engineering degree. The Technikakademie Braunschweig has established partnerships with a number of technical colleges and universities in order to make it easier for students to recognize modules that have already been completed for the bachelor's degree. In the fields of mechanical engineering and mechatronics , the Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science at Glyndŵr University can be achieved with recognition of 90 ECTS . Since 2019, as part of a new cooperation with the University of Bolton (England GB), all TAB subject areas have been given the opportunity to complete their studies in Bolton with a bachelor's degree with full recognition (120 ECTS). At the TU Clausthal , up to 62 ECTS can be recognized in mechanical engineering and mechatronics , and up to 45 ECTS in electrical engineering can be recognized at Ostfalia . Modules from the technical studies course can also be recognized for the industrial engineering course at the Harz University of Applied Sciences . For graduates in the field of mechatronics, the bachelor's degree at the university 21 in Buxtehude is shortened by three three-month theory modules and one three-month practical module. This shortens the studies in Buxtehude by two full semesters.

history

In the chronicle of the city of Braunschweig , the move of the technical school of the city of Braunschweig to the current location of the technical academy in the Kastanienallee is mentioned for the first time in March 1970 . In February 1974, Peter von Oertzen , a minister of education, took part in the general assembly of the technical school for the first time. The renaming of the technical school of the city of Braunschweig to the technical academy of the city of Braunschweig will finally take place on April 16, 2009.

The BVT Award, presented for the first time in 2014, was given to two students specializing in mechatronics. The topic of the award-winning thesis was "SAMBA - low-interference signal transmission" and dealt with the use of piezo sensors for aeronautical machine elements. The work was done at the German Aerospace Center in Braunschweig. The prize of the Federal Association of Higher Professions in Technology, Business and Design is awarded for high-quality theses at technical academies.

Partnerships

The Technical Academy of the City of Braunschweig cooperates with numerous educational institutions and with companies in the economy. The partnerships are either maintained directly by the academy or by the support group of the technical academy .
