The Teddybears , formerly known as Teddybears Sthlm or Teddybears STHLM , are a music group from the Swedish capital Stockholm . Band members are Patrik Arve, Joakim Åhlund and Klas Åhlund. Their music contains elements of punk , electronic and rock music .
Band history
The Teddybears were founded in 1991 by Patrik Arve and Joakim Åhlund under the name Skull as a grindcore band (not to be confused with the band of the same name, which was featured on Projections of a Stained Mind in 1991 ). After Joakim's brother Klas Åhlund joined the group, it was renamed Teddybears STHLM (abbr. Stockholm). After two punk albums, You Are Teddybears (1993) and I Can't Believe It's Teddybears STHLM (1996), the style of the band changed with the album Rock'n'Roll Highschool (2000) to electronic rock music. This album, on which Eagle-Eye Cherry also made a guest appearance, marked the breakthrough for Teddybears in Sweden. The record was named the best album of the year at the Swedish Grammis Gala . The group was voted Pop / Rock Group of the Year at the same event.
The most famous songs of the band are punk rocker from the album Rock'n'Roll Highschool and Cobrastyle from the 2004 album Fresh . Both pieces became better known in 2006 due to reinterpretations. This year the Teddybears recorded the song Punkrocker again with Iggy Pop . Also in 2006 Robyn covered the song Cobrastyle and reached number 17 in the Swedish charts.
Joakim Åhlund is also a member of the Caesars .
