Caesars (originally Caesars Palace ) is an alternative rock band from Stockholm , Sweden .
history
In 1995, together with a childhood friend, guitarist Joakim "Jocke" Åhlund, César Vidal founded a band named after the famous casino in Las Vegas , Caesars Palace . David Lindquist joined the band as bass player and Jens Örjenheim as drummer. A 3-track EP called Shake It was produced on the indie label Dolores .
The mini-album Rock de Puta Mierda followed in 1996 . During the recording of the first album Youth Is Wasted on the Young (1998), guitarist Jocke bought an old Farfisa organ that changed the sound of the band forever. The Caesars then began to work on their memorable organ hooklines .
In 2000 the band released the album Cherry Kicks . The later hit single Jerk It Out appeared in 2002 on the album Love for the Streets . Drummer Jens Örjenheim had previously left the group and was replaced by Nino Keller. Her label Dolores was taken over by Major Virgin .
In 2003 the Caesars were sent on a US tour with The Soundtrack of Our Lives . Since they could hold their own there, Virgin released a best-of from their first three albums - 39 Minutes of Bliss (In an Otherwise Meaningless World) . The record was also released in the USA. In order to avoid a possible legal dispute with the casino group Caesars Palace , the four Swedes previously changed their name to "Caesars".
In 2005 the band celebrated the greatest success in their history with Jerk It Out . The Apple company used the song to advertise the new iPod shuffles. The title was also used in the console game BDFL Manager 2005 . During the year the Caesars released the album Paper Tigers .
The double album Strawberry Weed with 24 tracks was released in 2008. It was produced by Ebbot Lundberg from The Soundtrack of Our Lives .
In an interview with the Swedish radio station P3 on February 13, 2012, Joakim Åhlund reported that the Caesars project is currently on hold. In August 2018 the band played at the Propaganda Festival in Stockholm.
