The Teenage Apocalypse Trilogy is an American film trilogy by independent director Gregg Araki , who also served as producer and screenwriter. It consists of the films Totally Fucked Up , The Doom Generation and Nowhere .

The three films are considered a swan song for society and deal with the topics of drug abuse, suicide , bisexuality , homosexuality , murder, rape and the search for something permanent within their self-standing stories . Only the exceptional actor James Duval is cast as the main actor in all three films, other actors appear only marginally again and again; such as Rose McGowan , who plays a leading role in The Doom Generation , can be seen in a short sequence in Nowhere . However, these supporting actors no longer relate to their earlier or later roles in the trilogy.

The three films were made in 1993 ( Totally Fucked Up ), 1995 ( The Doom Generation ) and 1997 ( Nowhere ) and have been rated by critics as "A Journey to the Abyss of the Soul", " Beverly Hills, 90210 on Acid" and "Disturbing Glance Behind." the mirror ”. Christian groups tried to boycott the films because of their open portrayal of bisexuality and homosexuality.

In Germany only Nowhere , the last part of the trilogy, was released on VHS . The distribution of the film was discontinued after a short time due to a lack of commercial success.
