Telekinesis is a music project by independent musician Michael Benjamin Lerner from Seattle , USA .

history

Michael Lerner's father worked as a radio DJ for decades. First, Lerner learned to play the drums . He later learned to play the guitar and developed into a singer-songwriter . In 2006, Lerner spent a year studying at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts founded by Paul McCartney . In 2008 Lerner self-distributed the EP Toulouse-Lautrec . In 2009 another self-released EP followed with Coast of Carolina . Finally Lerner got a contract with the American label Merge Records . In April 2009 his debut album Telekinesis! on the US market. The label Morr Music took over the release in Germany a few months later . Bonus material was five pieces from the Coast of Carolina EP, which was previously only available in the USA. For taking telekinesis! Lerner was able to win over the Death Cab for Cutie guitarist and producer Chris Walla, who used an analog recording technique for the recording. Then Lerner went on tour with a live band. In 2010 the EPs Dirty Thing and Parallel Seismic Conspiracies came out. Lerner played his second album as Telekinesis again with Chris Walla using analog recording technology. 12 Desperate Straight Lines was released in February 2011. The single from Morr Music was Please Ask for Help . Another tour with live musicians followed.
