Telemark World Cup in Bad Hindelang

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Telemark World Cup in Bad Hindelang has been part of the Telemark World Cup since the 2005 season with a few interruptions . It is organized by the International Ski Association (FIS) and until 2015 was organized by the Allgäu Ski Association together with Christian Leicht as head of the OC and those responsible for the German Ski Association (DSV). In 2015 SV Hindelang hosted the event for the first time together with DSV. Responsible were on the part of SV Hindelang, board member Manfred Berktold and on the part of DSV Christian Leicht. The races are held in the Allgäu Alpine Training Center (ATA).

history

The idea for a World Cup in Germany came from the person in charge of the DSV and member of the Telemark Committee of the FIS Christian Leicht. Christian Leicht applied with Bad Hindelang / Oberjoch to host the 2005 season and was awarded the contract. Because Oberjoch had a lot of experience with other events in the past. In the years 2006, 2008 to 2010 and 2012 to 2014 there was no World Cup in Bad Hindelang / Oberjoch because the World Cup costs a lot of money and this money has to be collected. Apart from Christian Leicht, nobody could add anything to it and that is why he did not want to hold a World Cup in Germany every year. In the 2016/17 season, the classic sprint discipline was swapped for a parallel sprint on the first day. Because of Storm Sabine , the races in the classic sprint and parallel sprint for women and men had to be canceled in the 2019/20 season. Because the previously groomed race track was in bad shape after the storm to host races.
