tellfilm was founded in 1997 by Stefan Jäger and Markus Kaeppeli under the name handsUP! Film Production founded in Lucerne . In 1998 the GmbH produced its first feature film MISGUIDED ANGEL, which was shot in the USA and sold worldwide. When the actor Stefan Gubser joined the management team , the company was restructured in 2007 and renamed tellfilm.

Stefan Jäger, who studied screenwriting and directing at the Ludwigsburg Film Academy and has worked as a director for several years , has been managing director since it was founded. Katrin Renz has been working as a producer and dramaturge for tellfilm since November 2007, and since 2014 she has been managing director when Stefan Gubser left. Corinne Steiner has been working as producer and production manager for tellfilm since March 2018.

In addition to the successful production of various feature and documentary films (BLUE MY MIND, TIERE, DER GROSSE SOMMER, HORIZON BEAUTIFUL, HELLO GOODBYE, BOXING JESUS), television films ( TATORT - WUNSCHDENKEN ) and documentary series for Swiss television (SRF HE!
