Telmissos
Coordinates: 37 ° 3 ' N , 27 ° 19' O Telmissus ( Greek Τελμισσός , rare Τελμεσσός Telmessos called) was an ancient city in Caria near the modern village Gürece , about eleven kilometers west of Bodrum (ancient Halicarnassus ) in today's Turkey .
Originally Telmissus was a settlement of Leleges . Around 361 BC Some of the inhabitants of Maussolos were resettled to Halicarnassus in the 2nd century BC. Telmissos was completely incorporated into the neighboring city. In Telmissus a still who was Roman Empire important Apollon -Sanctuary with Oracle .
The remains of a Legian hilltop settlement with fortifications, chamber and rock graves have been preserved.
Even in ancient times, the place was often confused with Telmessos in Lycia .
