Ten'an

Ten'an ( Japanese 天 安 , also Tennan) is a Japanese era ( Nengō ) from March 857 to May 859 according to the Gregorian calendar . The previous era name is Saikō , the following era is called Jōgan . The era falls during the reign of the emperors ( Tennō ) Montoku and Seiwa .

The first day of the Ten'an era corresponds to March 20, 857, and the last day was May 19, 859. The Ten'an era lasted three years or 791 days.

  • 858 Tennō Montoku dies, initially followed by Korehito-shinnō, shortly afterwards Tennō Seiwa is enthroned at the age of eight
