Ten New Songs is Leonard Cohen's tenth studio album and was released on October 9, 2001. All tracks were written jointly by Cohen and Sharon Robinson . The cover picture shows Robinson and Cohen's faces side by side.

Ten New Songs was Cohen's first album in nine years (which he spent almost exclusively in a Zen monastery near Los Angeles) and the first to be digitally recorded and produced. It was recorded in Cohen's private studio in Los Angeles .

Sharon Robinson produced and arranged the album and played almost all of the instruments and programmed the electronic instruments in her private studio in a garage. Individual pieces contain up to 20 background voices, all of which are sung by Sharon Robinson.
