Kiveli Dörken

Kiveli Dörken (born July 17, 1995 in Düsseldorf ) is a German - Greek pianist . She is the younger sister of Danae Dörken .

Life

At the age of five, Kiveli Dörken learned to play the piano with Marina Kheifets at the Subito music school in Düsseldorf . She often performed as a duo with her sister Danae Dörken . From 2003 to 2012 she was taught by Karl-Heinz Kämmerling at the University of Music and Theater in Hanover , after his death with Lars Vogt .

At the age of five, Kiveli Dörken was the youngest finalist to win a prize at the “International Steinway Competition” in Hamburg. Awards and first prizes followed at the Grotrian-Steinweg competition in Braunschweig , the national youth music competition , the “International EPTA Competition” in Croatia and the International Piano Competition for the Rotary Youth Music Prize. She is a GEDOK scholarship holder , the “Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation ”, the chamber music festival“ Tensions ”, the“ German Foundation for Music Life ”and the“ International Music Academy Liechtenstein ”.

She gave her first orchestral concert at the age of eight and has since performed regularly in Germany, France, Austria, Liechtenstein, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Greece, China and the USA. In 2005 the TV station “ ARTE ” filmed them under the theme “... early practice” and in 2009 the WDR. In 2007 she played for the Dalai Lama in the Münsterhalle . In 2009 she played - at the invitation of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben - in Washington, DC for Chancellor Angela Merkel .

Kiveli Dörken still often plays with her older sister Danae Dörken , who was also a student of Karl-Heinz Kämmerling.

In 2015, Kiveli Dörken and her sister Danae founded the Molyvos International Music Festival (MIMF) on the island of Lesbos , which has taken place annually since then.
