Danae Dörken (born August 12, 1991 in Wuppertal ) is a German - Greek pianist . She is the older sister of Kiveli Dörken .

Life

At the age of five, Danae Dörken learned to play the piano with Marina Kheifets at the Subito music school in Düsseldorf . From 2002 to 2012 she was taught by Karl-Heinz Kämmerling at the Hanover University of Music and Theater , and since his death by Lars Vogt . In her youth she won prizes in national and international competitions and has since given concerts at home and abroad as a soloist, with orchestras and with chamber music ensembles. She was a guest at the Bendestorfer Klaviertage festivals , the Kissinger Sommer , the Schwetzinger SWR Festival , the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival and the chamber music festival "Spannungen" in Heimbach and the Rheingau Festival. In May 2018 she made a guest appearance with the Las Vegas Philharmonic Orchestra and in October 2019 with the Edmonton Symphonic Orchestra. In February 2020 she performed in Tokyo and Osaka, in March 2020 at Wigmore Hall in London.

Danae Dörken often plays with her younger sister Kiveli Dörken , who was also a student of Karl-Heinz Kämmerling.

In 2015 Danae Dörken and her sister Kiveli founded the Molyvos International Music Festival (MIMF) on the island of Lesbos , which has been taking place annually since then under the direction of the two sisters.

In 2017 and 2019 Danae Dörken became the mother of two sons. She lives with her family in Königs Wusterhausen, south of Berlin .

Scholarships

She is funded by GEDOK and the Enno and Christa Springmann Foundation and is a scholarship holder of the “Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation ”, the“ Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben ”, the chamber music festival“ Tension ”and the“ International Music Academy Liechtenstein ”.
