Benedict Kloeckner

Benedict Kloeckner (* 1989 in Neuwied ) is a German cellist.

Career

Benedict Kloeckner began his professional training at the age of 14 with Martin Ostertag at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe. He has received multiple scholarships and studied cello from 2009 to 2016 at Kronberg Academy with Frans Helmerson and Gary Hoffman. Mentors were Gidon Kremer , Steven Isserlis , David Geringas , Michael Sanderling and András Schiff .

Benedict Kloeckner has played as a soloist in Europe, the USA and Korea with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, the German Radiophilharmonie, the radio symphony orchestras of the MDR and NDR, the German State Philharmonic, the Russian and Polish State Orchestras, the Slovak Radio Orchestra, the  Kremerata Baltica , the Oslo Camerata , the chamber orchestras of Prague, Berlin and Amsterdam and the Arcos Chamber Orchestra New York.

The cellist has made guest appearances at the Amsterdam  Concertgebouw , the Berlin Philharmonic , Carnegie Hall in New York, the Seoul Arts Center , the Leipzig Gewandhaus , the Rudolfinum in Prague  and the  Wigmore Hall in London up to the Tonhalle in Zurich . Further invitations took him to Munich, Bucharest, Vienna and Washington. 

Kloeckner worked with the conductors Ingo Metzmacher , Michael Sanderling , Jan Söderblom, Simon Gaudenz , Howard Griffiths  and Heinrich Schiff , as well as contemporary composers such as Éric Tanguy , Wolfgang Rihm and Howard Blake .

Chamber music partners are Emanuel Ax ,  Danae Dörken , Christoph Eschenbach , Anna Fedorova , José Gallardo , Gidon Kremer , Anne-Sophie Mutter and András Schiff.

In 2014 Benedict Kloeckner founded the Koblenz International Music Festival, of which he is also the artistic director.
