Kian Soltani ( Persian کیان سلطانی; * 1992 in Bregenz ) is an Austrian cellist.

Soltani is the son of Iranian parents who are also musicians. He began playing the cello at the age of four. At the age of twelve he began studying with Ivan Monighetti at the Music Academy of the City of Basel , which he continued from 2014 at the Kronberg Academy with Frans Helmerson. In the same year he made his debut at the Kissinger Sommer , where he was awarded the Luitpold Prize. In 2017 he received the Leonard Bernstein Award of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award for 2018, which also includes a concert with the Vienna Philharmonic as part of the Lucerne Festival .

Soltani has appeared as a soloist with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under the direction of Daniel Barenboim , with the Basel Sinfonietta , the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra and the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra under Neville Marriner . In 2019 he performed with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Luxembourg under the direction of Ryan Bancroft .
