Basel Sinfonietta
The Basel Sinfonietta is an orchestra for new music from Basel . It was launched in 1980 by young musicians with the aim of conveying contemporary music , well-known, new and experimental works to the public in new contexts .
Organization and self-determination
Founded in 1980 by young musicians, the orchestra is organized as an association and functions according to the model of self-administration . Today the orchestra has 110 members. In close cooperation with the management, the program coordination and the board, both consisting exclusively of orchestra members, are responsible for the orchestra's programmatic and strategic planning. This organizational structure offers the musicians a say in artistic and organizational issues.
