Astrig Siranossian

Astrig Siranossian (* 19th December 1988 in Lyon ) is a French cellist with Armenian origin.

biography

At the age of three Siranossian took lessons at the national music school in Romans-sur-Isère , where her father Alexander Siranossian has been the director for 40 years. At the age of 5 she played Vivaldi concerts and at the age of 6 gave a concert in Paris with the orchestra from the island of Île Saint-Louis .

At the age of 8, Siranossian passed the entrance examination as a gifted child at the “National Conservatory for Music and Dance in Lyon” (Conservatoire national supérieur musique et danse de Lyon) and studied in the class of Patrick Gabard . At the age of 15 she received the “Diploma in Musicology” with a unanimous vote and in the same year was accepted into Yvan Chiffoleau 's class at the same institute , from which she graduated with a university diploma at the age of 18. Siranossian continued her studies in Switzerland with Ivan Monighetti at the University of Music in Basel , which she completed with two master's degrees with top honors.

In 2012 Siranossian won the " Antonio Janigro Competition". In the following year, the cellist won the "International Krzysztof Penderecki Cello Competition" with two additional special prizes and received the French Groupe Banque Populaire Prize.

In 2015 she received the invitation to take part in the artist residency of the “Queen Elisabeth Chapel” in Waterloo and to the “Singer-Polignac Foundation” for three years . In the same year the cellist launched the “Musicades Romanesque” festival in Romans sur Isere , thus combining three of her greatest passions: music , literature and gastronomy .

In 2016 she recorded a CD with the pianist Théo Fouchenneret with the works of Gabriel Fauré , Francis Poulenc and Komitas Vardapet . The production received the main prize of Musica.

In 2017, the pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim Siranossian offered to join the “Ensemble Boulez” and act as solo cellist with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra .

In 2018 she released together with Adam Klocek and the Sinfonia Varsovia at the record label Claves Records a CD with cello concertos by Aram Chatschaturjan and Krzysztof Penderecki, which received "5 Tuning Forks", "5 Classica Stars" and the "Clef du mois ResMusica" “(Clef of the month) was awarded.

In 2019 the sisters Chouchane and Astrig Siranossian will release an album that includes duets for cello and violin .

Siranossian has performed in the Philharmonie de Paris , the Wiener Musikverein , the Lucerne Culture and Congress Center , the Casino in Basel and the Dijon Opera , the Flagey cultural center in Brussels, the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington .

She has given concerts with Daniel Barenboim , Simon Rattle , Yo-Yo Ma , Sol Gabetta , Bertrand Chamayou , Guy Braustein , Ivan Monighetti , Michael Barenboim as well as Mathieu Dufour, Augustin Dumay , Louis Lortie and Daniel Ottensamer .

Siranossian is also an employee of the "Administration des Droits des Artistes et Musiciens Interprètes" (AdAMI, French collecting society for copyright ).

Siranossian plays a cello from 1676 by Francesco Ruggieri , which is made available to her by the Boubo Music Foundation.
