Tenpe Wangchug

Penchen Tenpe Wangchug ( Tib. : Pan chen pa'i bstan dbang phyug ; and (Lobsang) Pelden Chökyi Dragpa , Tib .: (blo bzang) dpal ldan chos kyi grags pa * 1854/ 1855 ; † 1882 ) as the fifth Title Penchen Lama and is considered the eighth Penchen Lama of the Gelug tradition of Tibetan Buddhism .

Life

Tenpe Wangchug was the son of Tendzin Wangyel and Trashi Lhamo. It was brought to Trashilhünpo in 1857 and recognized as the Trülku des Tenpe Nyima . In 1860 he was officially enthroned as the Penchen Lama. He received full ordination in 1877. In 1878 he gave the 13th Dalai Lama the “first tonsure”. His literary life's work (Tib .: gsung 'bum ) comprises about three medium-sized volumes.

Tenpe Wangchug died at the age of 27/28.
