Ornellaia Masseto e , formerly Ornellaia , is an Italian winery in the DOC Bolgheri in the district of Bolgheri the community Castagneto Carducci in Tuscany , known as a manufacturer of " Super Tuscans " wines.

description

Ornellaia is considered to be one of Italy's leading Bordeaux-like red wines. The estate also produces a second wine , “Le Serre Nuove”, the blend “Le Volte”, the Merlot “Masseto”, as well as grappa and olive oil . In 2012 the winery changed its name from “Tenuta dell'Ornellaia” to “Ornellaia e Masseto” in order to take into account the growing importance of the Merlot-based wine.

Robert Mondavi Winery acquired a minority stake in November 1999; In 2002 they took over all the shares and started a partnership with the Frescobaldi family . In April 2005 Frescobaldi acquired the remaining 50% shares in Ornellaia from Constellation Brands after their takeover of Mondavi Holding and thus became sole owner. Axel Heinz is the winemaker; Michel Rolland , who has been with us from the start, is a consultant oenologist .
