Marchese Vittorio de 'Frescobaldi (* 1928 in Florence , Tuscany ) is an Italian wine entrepreneur. The name Frescobaldi has great significance in the history of Tuscany in the fields of art , music , commerce and finance . The history of the Florentine banking family, in the 16th century, in the time of the "Principato" , ennobled as Marchesi de 'Frescobaldi , goes back to the 13th century. The Frescobaldi were already producing wine in the 14th century. For the history of the family, see Frescobaldi (family) .

The Frescobaldi company

After the death of his father, Lamberto de 'Frescobaldi, his eldest son Vittorio Frescobaldi took over the management and is supported by his two brothers, Ferdinando and Leonardo. One of the five brothers, Piero Frescobaldi , began a career in motorsport and had a fatal accident at the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race in 1964 . The company was converted into a stock corporation in 1980 , with the entire block of shares owned by the five siblings Dino, Vittorio, Maria, Ferdinando and Leonardo Frescobaldi, as well as Bona Marchi, Vittorio's wife.

Lamberto Frescobaldi, son of Vittorio and Bona Marchi, has been working in the family business since 1989. He heads the agriculture and viticulture division in the family business. As such, he is dedicated to the renewal of the family's vineyards and the management of the wine cellars . An important step in the renewal is the collaboration with the Californian wine house Robert Mondavi , with whom new Tuscan wines of the highest quality are produced together. Marchese Lamberto Frescobaldi and Timothy Mondavi ( Robert Mondavi Winery ) jointly manage production in the winery " Luce della Vite " and " Tenuta dell'Ornellaia ", a joint venture that was established between the two companies in 1995. In June 2002 Vittorio Frescobaldi took over a 50% share of the winery and on April 1, 2005 he acquired the entire property of Tenuta dell'Ornellaia. In 2000 Frescobaldi acquired 70% of the estate of the Counts Attems in Collio , one of the oldest and most important companies. The distribution of Attems wines by Frescobaldi began in 2001 with typical gastronomy white wines ( Chardonnay , Sauvignon Blanc ) from the 2000 vintage.

The annual production in 2001 totaled 9 million bottles, 35% of which were sold in Italy, the rest were exported.
