Terence Ascott

Terence Ascott (born October 1947 in the USA) is a British civil engineer , founder and CEO of SAT-7 .

Live and act

Terence Ascott completed an apprenticeship as a civil engineer at Middlesex University from 1968 to 1972 , from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Structural Engineering ( BSc ) with the highest distinction. He studied at the "American University of Beirut" (AUB) and worked from 1973 to 1975 with the Christian aid organization Operation Mobilization as a production manager for Arabic literature in Beirut , Lebanon. During this time he founded the Arab youth magazine "Magalla". After that, Ascott was international director of "Middle East Media", which he co-founded in 1975, before becoming managing director of the private television broadcaster SAT-7, which he founded in January 1996, based in Nicosia , Cyprus . It was the first Arabic-language, Christian and satellite-based broadcaster that made it possible to reach households in the Middle East and North Africa without the usual state censorship of the mass media.

He is a member of the "Crofton Baptist Church" and the "World Association for Christian Communication" and on the advisory board of the "International Christian Media Commission".

Terence Ascott is married to his wife Jacqueline. The couple has three children who live in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Awards

In 2012, Ascott received an honorary Doctor of Ministry (DMin) from Belhaven College for his services to promote Christianity throughout the Middle East and North Africa .
