Terenci Moix

Terenci Moix [ təˈɾɛnsi ˈmoʃ ] ( real . Ramon Moix i Meseguer ; born January 5, 1942 in Barcelona ; † April 2, 2003 ibid) was a Spanish writer and journalist who published both Spanish and Catalan works.

Raised in Barcelona during the Franco dictatorship , Moix spent the 1960s in the artist colonies of London and Paris and stayed in Rome in the 1970s . His 1969 novel The Day Marilyn Died - a family chronicle that reflects the history of his hometown Barcelona in the 20th century - was a huge hit with the public and gave Moix a breakthrough as a writer. Moix, who was already enthusiastic about antiquity and the Egypt of the Pharaonic era in his youth, celebrated his greatest successes with sophisticated historical novels , including the opulent bestseller The Dream of Cleopatra (1986), which was awarded the prestigious Premio Planeta literary prize . In addition to his writing activities, Moix worked as a journalist for several newspapers.
