The Tereswa (Ukrainian Тересва , Slovak Teresva , Hungarian Tarac ) is a river in western Ukraine in the Zakarpattia Oblast in the river basin of the Tisza .
The river, named after the Austrian empress Maria Theresia , arises north of the place Ust-Chorna in the Rajon Tjatschiw in the forest Carpathians through the confluence of the Mokryanka and the Brusturjanka , then flows through the Teresva valley (rarely German Theresa valley) in a southerly direction past Dubowe to the place Tereswa , where it flows southwest into the Tisza .
The total length of the river is 56 kilometers, the entire water catchment area is 1225 km².
In the 18th century, Carpathian Germans settled in the Tereswa valley, especially around Königsfeld (today Ust-Tschorna) .
