Tero Mikael Järvenpää (born October 2, 1984 in Tampere ) is a former Finnish athlete .

Järvenpää competes in the javelin throw for the Tampereen Pyrintö / Mizuno Track Club . The 2003 Vice Junior European Champion won the silver medal at the Summer Universiade 2005 in Izmir ; he was with 79.61 meters one meter behind the Latvian Ainars Kovals . At the European Athletics Championships 2006 in Gothenburg, Järvenpää finished eighth with a throw over 75.21 meters. With 82.10 meters Järvenpää was again eighth at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka 2007. His compatriot Tero Pitkämäki won the competition.

In 2008 he made a strong appearance in the run-up to the Olympic Games in Beijing at the IAAF Golden League with podium finishes and set his personal record on July 27, 2008 in Tampere with 86.68 meters. In the Olympic final he was fourth with 86.16 m. Until the last round he was behind Andreas Thorkildsen from Norway and Pitkämäki on the bronze rank before the Latvian Ainārs Kovals surpassed the best distances Pitkämäkis and Järvenpääs with a throw over 86.64 m.

Tero Järvenpää is 1.88 meters tall and weighs 95 kg. In 2008 he won the Finnish javelin throwing championship. Until 2011 he also won three silver and two bronze medals.
