from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Terence (Terry) James Healy (born September 1, 1981 in South Perth ) is an Australian politician. He is a member of the Labor Party (ALP) and has been a member of the Legislative Assembly , the lower house of Western Australia , since 2017 .

In March 2017, Healy ran for a seat in the Western Australian House of Commons in the Southern River constituency, southeast of Perth . He succeeded in beating the mandate holder Peter Abetz from the Liberal Party . One reason for this was the changed layout of the constituency, as a result of which he lost the liberal areas of Canning Vale and included more voters in the suburbs of Gosnells close to the Labor Party . Healy has a college degree as a teacher and until he entered parliament he worked at a school in Southern River, a suburb of Gosnells, where he was also a member of the local council. Due to his professional background, the focus of his parliamentary work is on education policy. He lives in Huntingdale with his wife Catherine and two daughters.
