The Tervel Peak ( Bulgarian връх Тервел wrach Terwel ) is a 810 m high mountain with three peaks on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In the Friesland Ridge of the Tangra Mountains, it rises 1.2 km west of St. Methodius Peak , 1.57 km east-northeast of MacKay Peak and 5.75 km northeast of Barnard Point .
Bulgarian scientists carried out surveys from 1995 to 1996. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named the mountain in 2002 after Terwel , the second ruler of the First Bulgarian Empire in the 8th century .
