The Tetzensee is an inland body of water in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in the north-west of Brandenburg . The Tetzensee is 1.5 km long (with a maximum width of 400 m), its surface is 50 ha (0.50 km²). The lake is crossed by the Rhin from north to south, followed by the Zermützelsee in the north and the Molchowsee in the south . The Tetzensee is part of the Ruppin waterway .

Emergence

The Tetzensee lies in a glacial channel that was formed in the last ice age, the Weichsel ice age, about 18,000 years ago. After the glacier melted, initially dead ice remained in the channel. It was not until the warming at the end of the Ice Age about 12,000 years ago, when the block of dead ice melted, that the lake formed.
